Royal Cape Yacht Club

At Midday Thursday, 19 February , we left Knysna docks for Cape town. We had a short window, but should be able to make it in 3 days. Colin, an experienced racing sailor came on board to assist us. With a new skipper, more sails open and better sail trimming we moved much faster than before. At midnight 5 miles offshore, we passed Cape Agulas in a mirror calm sea. The following day was the total opposite of mirror calm! We fought the whole day against the wind in our face and passed Cape Point at midnight in a washing machine, only 30 NM done for the day. According to the weather forcast we had to reach our destination by midday the following day. Surazo was about 8 hours behind us and decided to go in at Simons Town in Falsebay. At 9 am on Sunday 22 February we moored at Royal Cape Yacht Club. We were much relieved to be finished with the East Coast of SA. Now we know our boat and what she can do.
