Buzios

190nm south of Guarapari
On the 18th of March we left Guarapari for Rio de Janeiro.
This should be more or less a 3 day sail. Day one started with good wind, but by midday there was either little wind or no wind and no catch. I was very nervous to pass Sao Tome Bank which can be according to our books, dangerous in wrong conditions and after this lies Brazil’s biggest offshore oil field with a lot of traffic to and from the rigs. We passed Sao Tome bank with ease and reached the oil fields on the second morning. There were hardly any ships until close to Buzios. I proudly caught my first fish, a small Mahi-Mahi which we enjoyed for lunch. Then soon after lunch, I caught an “Anchova”, very tender white meat fish. Due to little wind, we decided to stop at Buzios for the weekend.
