Caracas

first Venezuela beer

We travelled by bus, por puesto, underground and  taxi to get to Caracas Airport the day before Anita and James was due to arrive. We booked into a hotel close to the airport and took the transfer to the airport the next day to meet Anita and James.
We changed money on the black market and organized bus tickets to Merida with the help of a new friend Luis, we met at the airport. You hear only about the crime in Venezuela and then you meet a guy like Luis that will drive to a bus station late at night to pay for tickets for people he met today and hope to get the money back when he delivers the tickets to them the next day.
We had a few beers on the street and not so perfect paella at the restaurant of the Catia Mar Hotel but a good start to the holiday with straight rum in the room we were sharing.

plaza Bolivar
The next day we saw some of Caracas and the beautiful girls of Venezuela travelling by underground .We stopped at Plaza Bolivar and found the only bar in the area on the first floor hide away.
hidden bar, not for the feint hearted

We each ordered a very big parrilla of pork, beef and chicken that is enough for two people even by Namibian standards, we asked for doggy bags and had it on the 18 hrs bus trip to Merida.
