CROSSING THE CARIBBEAN SEA
mona passage to the right of us
We left Blanquilla for Dom Rep at 3 in the afternoon. The wind and swell predicted was on the limit that Christelle was happy with and luckily it was accurate.
We made good the first day and then the dreaded rain squalls started and did not stop for 2 and half days! Every rain cloud coming our way we had to reef, then shake reef out again. The result is little sleep and nerves was fraying a bit…We passed the south end of the infamous Mona Passage that looked peaceful enough until a huge cloud bank freaked Christelle out. The last night the wind dropped (as predicted) and we motored the last miles to arrive after 3 ¾ days at Casa de Campo at 10h00 on 11 February 2012.
