Getting ready for 5 or 6 months cycling down South America

Back at our “home” port, Puerto la Cruz, we got Songerie ready for a haul and long time on the dry and all our gear ready for a long cycling trip.
On closer inspection Jaco decided it will be cheaper to buy “new” second hand bicycles than repairing our 2 old rusted bikes. Jaco got a Giant Revel and Christelle Specialized rock hopper.

In the mean time we were also waiting for a Colombian Visa. After 10 days of daily extremely frustrating queues, slow and incompetent officials at the Consul and each day new questions about our finance or reason for travel, we decided it’s time for plan B: Brazil…. Where we need no Visa, also bearing in mind that the rainy season is starting soon! Jaco planed the last year our whole trip from Bogota, Colombia through Ecuador and Peru to Bolivia and further south. We will miss the first 3 countries and have to start planning from start. Another huge disappointment for us because of our Nationality! Now we go through the heat of the Amazon to the cold highlands.
and almost ready!
"Songerie" on the hard in the long term yard, bicycles packed... ready to go!
