Back on board "Songerie" March 2015

2 Month maintenance in Puerto la Cruz

At last we have a ships clock that is working. Thanks to Namibian friends, Joep & Anita, Derek & Jackie, Pierre & Silke, Jan & Margo
Getting the engine out.
Back on board "Songerie" we could at last install the clock after we got the right winding key in Buenos Aires, then we kicked off the maintenance by taking out the engine to fix the oil pan, replace the flex couplings and remove rust.

2 People, a block and tackle and a boom are needed to lift a 200kg engine out off the bilge, over the guard rail, onto dry land.
All rust removed and freshly painted!
New stainless steel engine brackets and flexible supports.
All back into bilge... no job for a tad overweight person!!
Christelle stayed busy with a few sewing  projects, one being a new dingy cover made from left over sambrella and rib-stop.
Christelle's new self tailing winch replacing the tiny old one!
At last, after many years on the look out for a affordable self tailing winch, we found a second hand one for U$220!
Lastly Jaco tackled the bimini frame. He reinforced and extended it for the new solar pannel.
Welding the extension.
Job almost done, lastly the anti fouling.
Ready for the big splash!
