Bay Islands of Honduras, June 2016

Canela's favourite sleeping place.

The sail from Rosario to Guanaja kicked off  on 19 May in huge thunderstorms (like 4 years ago) but as soon as we passed that system it was plain sailing. We reefed sails on day two and three to arrive in morning hours at Sandy bay, avoiding the late afternoon and night time strong winds (up to 30 knts).

the E-pirb at the companion way.

On day three, early morning before we spoke to Chris Parker, the weather guru, a freak wave hit our boat and one cup of water splashed inside the boat onto the E-pirb. Within seconds we switched of the alarm, but did not realize the havoc it caused back home! By late afternoon when switching on the "in-reach", we have accumulated dozens of messages...well at least we know the thing works!

When anchoring, on 22 May, in front of the German owned Manatee bar, we noticed we lost our spare CQR anchor underway!
Hansito and Claus from the Manatee were kind enough to offer storage for our bicycles to make space in the front berth, for Jaco's brother and sons visit in a couple of weeks in Belize.
Passing Bonacca the only real city where 10 000 people live on a small cay, half a mile from Guanaja. No cars, scooters or bicycles allowed!

street market close to Coxen Hole.

After a few peaceful days at Guanaja we sailed on to French Harbour, Roatan.  It was time to take care of much needed maintenance (fixing the table...Ana! and painting the mid berth) and stocking up with food supplies before we set sail for Belize.

Fantasy Island in the background.

The dogs loved chasing the monkeys and rats at Fantasy Island marina while we visit old friends Hildegard and Rudi from S/V Braveheart and new friend Tracy of S/V Saga Sea.

Colourful shops at West End, Roatan.
1 U$ beer at sea front. Ready to depart for Belize.
