Where the waters meet
On the first day we sailed to where the Rio Negro and Rio Solimoes meet to form the Amazon River. The water does not mix at firs because the Negro is much warmer and flow much slower than the Solimoes. The Negro gets the dark colour due to the rotting vegetation and is very high in acid, there for fewer animals and MOZZIES. The white Solimoes is much richer in animal and plant life.
We anchored next to the shore for the first night in the Amazon River
and went on a canoe to catch Piranha.
I do not have pictures of all my catches, but it mostly included all the trees in my vicinity, once my mother’s cheek and once a coin size piranha.
