Gamboa
The best caiperinhas in Brazil….. the world, can be found at a small baraca from Rasta Claudio and Miriam. After paying total rip-off prices in Ilha Grande and the little mishap on the boat the night before, we could not wait to go ashore and have a drink at Claudio’s.
We were welcomed as old friends. (Claudio call Jaco : “capt'n shjaak spaarrow”.heavy accent) Miriam served on the house beijo de tapioca, (which she later taught me to make) and Claudio did not hold back on the Cachaca! We met Angie, girl from SA traveling/ living in Gamboa. Well, like they say one thing lead to another and before we new we had far toooooo many caiperinhas, could not get to our boat and had to sleep in the baraca!!
We returned their kindness the following evening by serving them a real Namibia braai with “pot brood” and steak with home made chili sauce. We gave them the Namibian flag and South African flag with the world cop soccer in mind.
After a weeks rest and catch-up on washing we were ready for Salvador.
