Rio to Guarapari
On 12 May just after 2pm we left Rio for Guarapari. We had a huge swell of aprox 3m and a rain shower. The swell was very short and confused and caused the boat to roll like a washing machine. The sea calmed down during the night and we passed Cabo Frio at 6am on the 13th. We caught a good size Tuna on this day.
The wind became stronger and stronger. By the night it was between 20 and 25knots with again a huge swell. I did not want to steer in these conditions, Jaco had to go through the night. Before sunrise at Sao Tome Bank, it became calmer and I could take over to give him a rest. I had to avoid a few fishing nets and boats at sunrise, but the rest of the day was “plain sailing”. We caught again a tuna, small mackerel and then an about 13kg horse mackerel and arrived at Guarapari at 6am on the 15th.
