Suriname (Dutch Guyana)

At midnight 13 September we weighed anchor and left for the Suriname River. (166nm East-North-East of Salut islands)
We made good headway. A moderate wind lasted the full day and by 6am 15 September we arrived at the approach of the Suriname River. We struggled another 3 hours against the wind to reach the mouth of the river. There were only about 2 hours left of the in coming tide to reach Paramaribo (25nm up river). Most boats anchor at Domburg 10nm further, but we stopped at Paramaribo due to engine problem and the tide changing against us. Jaco found the trouble at the fuel filter and at 6pm when the tide changed once more, we decided to go further to Domburg. It is always a bit difficult to anchor at night; one can’t see all the boats and obstructions. “Kind of blue” crew came on deck and gave a bit off advice; we anchored just at the end off all the boats. Picture of sunrise at arrival.
