We prefer to stay at TMO (Tech Marine Oriental) in PLC for a couple of reasons. They are cheaper than Bahia Redonda Marina; the restaurant serve cheap, good, plain meals; very cheap laundry; dogs is welcome on a leach and they have alongside berths. Most of the marinas are part of the El Morro development. This includes shopping malls, town houses and golf courses on a canal network. It is easy, safe and lovely to visit all of these by dingy.
We cleared in by using Keigla of Trans Pacific Travel at Bahia Redonda Marina, it took a couple of days, but did not cost too much (then). (Later SHE cost us about 2 thousand U$ for GIVING US THE WRONG STAMP in our passport….. another story for later)
PLC is very safe, not remotely as bad as what you read on the internet. There is one area that one should avoid after dark and this is unfortunately just outside the marinas. It is called “Saigon ”!!! Paseo Colon is an attractive street with a large walkway by the water. It becomes lively in the evenings with street sellers, artisans, entertainers and a wide variety of side walk restaurants.
It is very sad to see the deteriorating of development due to the lack of tourism due to the Chaves government anti imperialism.Sorry, no pics at the moment will publish some on a later stage.
