We slept over at Mochima on the way to Medregal Village.

We left Mochima early morning, there were hardly any wind at the beginning, but it picked-up later, straight in our the face. Songerie struggled against the wind and stream. All were happy to drop anchor by early afternoon. My parents booked in the Medregal hotel for the next 5 days. One doesn’t’ expect much for the price of N$180 /double room/night. My mom was prepared for the worse, but was pleasantly surprised to see that the clean, big rooms are equipped with an en-suite bathroom. Breakfast is at extra cost of about N$40/person. Jaco and I stayed at anchor for 3 nights until the next haul-out of Songerie on Monday morning.

My parents and we had every evening dinner at the Hotel. This is normally a basic meal at about N$40/meal. Then each Saturday Jean-Marc cooks and Jesus (the hotel’s all rounder) serves, dressed in a black suit and bow tie, a 3 course meal @ N$ 140/meal including a jug of table wine. We had a merry and memorable time with all the other sailors at the Saturday evening dinner. Jaco and dad, Polla, were once again (like in Angra dos Reis 6 months ago) very popular later that night when they sang the “Sudwesterlied”..... (Dad was very popular most of the time with all his enthusiastic stories and remarkable memory.)

We joined the Jean-Marc family day trip to Punta Gangrejo. Jaco and I fell in love with the beautiful bay and Hotel ruins. We immediately dream of running a small pousada, bar and restaurant at such an idyllic spot.

All went well with the haul-out. We prepared Songerie for the next 6 weeks on the dry and left on the 22
nd of December for PLC where we start the long flight trip home.
