(N11˚ 50.607 W64˚ 38.817 anchor in sand) The next day we moved to a spot close by, more protected and closer to the reefs for diving. I got the smoke drum out and smoked a batch of fish. We checked with the local fishermen about ciguatera in the big barracuda and they assured us there is no danger. We had on board a small palm tree that sprouts from a Brazil coconut that was left to long. We kept it alive for 7 months and now decided to plant it next to six others on the beach. It is well fertilised with donkey shit from the wild donkey herd on Blanquila.
The next week we stayed all by ourselves, with very little clothing, eating fish. I would go spear fishing every day and almost every day bring a fish for the day. I shot a 2kg grunter, two 1-1.5kg mutton snappers, 1.5kg yellowtail snapper and various smaller barracuda. The water visibility ranged from 15-25m!
