About 18 Nm to the north east from Puerto
la Cruz is the three Islas Caracas.
Anchor: N 10 21,710 W 064 26,020 6m deep in sand
We chose the southern end of the eastern anchorage off Caracas del Este.The water is surprising ly clean for so close to mainland. The bay has two small beaches and we landed on the northern one and took a long walk with the dogs. It is a lovely bay with good protection and friendly fishermen trolling up and down for small tuna like “blanco”. We got some fresh blanco from one of them.

For the next day and night we chose the
small bay off Caracas del Oeste. It is a perfect size bay for one boat to swing
around with very good snorkelling close to the boat.
This area is full of the very beautiful and
interesting christmas tree coral. They are very colourful and cover the rocks
like a carpet. The beach is unfortunate full of rubbish that gets blown in from
the open sea to the north east. The fact that it is open to north east should
make it roly when it’s blowing hard from that direction.
