Cayo Heradura, Isla Tortuga
The winds was very
light and we motor sailed all the way to Tortuga . Close to Caldera we got the first hook-up and
landed a good size Barracuda.
One hour before sunset we were anchored at Cayo Heradura with S/V Chaser 2 who left from Puerto la Cruz the same time and S/V Tradewinds who left from Laguna Grande the day before.
Peter and Sylvia from Tradewinds are good friends with Phil and Yvonne from Chaser 2 and together with Billy and Suzie they all made for very interesting and sometimes hilarious company. It was especially beautiful sunrise and sunsets this time around.Pretty Evie entertained us with her “spinning-around dresses” (made by grandma) and finding treasures on the beach.

Semi-professional fisher Suzie on board
Chaser 2 also landed a similar sized barracuda, so we were good for food for a
few days.
The next few days we were almost constantly
on the beach, smoking fish, making big wood fires, BBQ marinated fish, chicken
and “roosterbrood” (bread buns baked on the coals).
Songerie crew even camped one night on the
beach, but all (especially the dogs) was very happy to get back to the boat
after a night sleeping on hard sand.
We stayed together for four days then
Songerie left for Palanquinos for some snorkelling.
