Casa de Campo marina |
At 10h00 Saturday 11 February 2012 w
e arrived at the breakwater of Casa de Campo marina and called on
the Vhf to let them know we are coming in.
Promptly a Rib came out to guide us in.
With about 10 line takers on the dock it was so easy to come alongside and tie
up.

delicious pic-nic |
One hour later we were checked in with
immigration, customs, ministry of health and coast guard and U$ 160 poorer!
The marina personnel is very helpful and
friendly, carting us around in a golf cart to bank and shop.
The marina is part of a big development of
fancy shopping area surrounded by luxury estates with golf courses, polo fields,
tennis courts and even a “dude ranch”(American name for a guest farm)
The prefferd mode of transport is
golf carts as the place is huge, we got the bicycles out.

Build of Coral stone at Altos de Chavon. |
The second day we cycled up to Altos de Chavon, a replica of a medieval historic town with an amphitheater. The church is especially pretty. We had a nice ice cold Presidente beer at a restaurant. At the marina we met Gerda Vermaak, from
Outjo in Namibia!The first
Namibian we have met outside Africa, she is
working on a motor yacht as hostess.
The supermarket of the resort is very well
stocked with the good stuff like salchichon (sausage) and french cheeses and we had a nice
picnic with the very good Presidente beer.

The price of the marina is U$ 38,5 / day ,
more than we like to pay so after 2 days we left for Bayahibe.
