Isla Saona

Anchor spot N 18 10,650 W 68 47,260  6m deep in sand

Isla Saona is part of Parc national del Este and the object of much tourism. It is the picture of the Caribbean: white sand beaches under tall palm trees with gin clear waters and lots of interesting fish to see.
We have the island to ourselves until 11 o’clock in the morning, then the tourist arrive.
By 3 o’clock they have all left and we have peace and quiet again. We did some nice snorkelling on the reef close to the island.
We met Rudiger and Hildegard on S/V Braveheart from Bremen here and gave them some info on Namibia which they are keen to visit.
The anchorage was a bit rolly and we moved to a spot in front of the Coast Guard and it was a little better. Anchor spot: N 18 11,570 W 68 46,910 2,5m in sand.
It was time to leave and we sailed back to Bayahibe and on to Cumayasa River.
