390Nm from Cuba to Bay Islands
We sailed at almost record speed (for Songerie) the next 390 miles in 3 days and 3 hours. We set anchor at Guanaja Island, Sandy bay at 14h00, Tuesday, 5 June.
Rarely seen Vortex formation. |
The first day we motor sailed through heavy thunderstorms and little wind.
The second day was perfect sailing conditions of 15/ 20 knots wind on the beam. Jaco caught a perfect size tuna half for sashimi and half for pan fry the next morning.
Ti-Bag over taking us in mid Ocean. |
The wind became stronger and stronger to 25/30 knots and
changed direction to a close haul by the third day. When Ti-Bag passed us early Monday morning, they were worried that we will not arrive before the storm on
Tuesday evening. We set out more sail and arrived in time, only 3 Hours after these
two 40ft and more Catamarans!
