Cayo Cuervo N 21 04.4 W 78 57.5

We motor sailed east to Cayo Cuervo and were glad to see Austrian flag “Aleppo” at anchor.  All in all we stayed 10 days here and it turned out to be our favorite spot in the Jardines de la Reina. It has a big well protected bay where shrimp boats meet and we got buckets full of fresh shrimp for nothing.

lovely beach at cuervo
There is also a small beach where we had sundowner cocktails, BBQs, smoked fish and great gatherings with other boats passing by. We had great fun with Kurt and Karen from S/V Aleppo whom helped us in Cienfuegos with gearbox oil. (Kurt mixes the best Caipirinha outside Brazil!) We met Leo and Christina of S/V Lahna whom we last saw in Venezuela. It was a great reunion when we met up with Jean-Pierre (Jaco’s crazy spear fisher man buddy) and Brigit (great Grouper spotter and killer cocktail mixer) from S/V Ti-Bag.

On the West side of Cayo Cuervo is a reef that drops from 10 to 20 meters where Jaco and JP found a lot of and very big fish.
