Grand Cayman Island, March 2013

sail cruise ship
What a great 224NM North-East sail to the Caymans we had! Clear skies, no swell or chop, sustained E 13Knts wind and dolphins riding our bow.
The first day we caught a HUGE Wahoo, but had to release it with our fridge being already full of fish and we are still at least 2 days from civilization.

Chris Parker our SSB weatherman suggested we stop at Cayman when the wind die down and continue 2 or 3 days later to Cuba. It is free to check in at Caymans… why not?

We arrived at 3am, radioed port control and hove to in the roly bay till sunrise. After clearing in we picked up a free mooring in front of Georgetown.
brand new plaything, JET PACK
Whiles slowly sipping our 11US each Pina Colada and Margarita, 4 Cruise ships came in and we realized this is not the place for us!

The diving around the anchorage was spectacular.

2 meter Tarpon

We found Windhoek lager in the bottle store.

a very busy bay! "Songerie" is the small blue dot next to the cruiseship.

3 days later we cleared out and sailed the last 140Nm to Cuba.
