Blanquilla, July 2013

Tuna that "got away"
The sail down to Venezuela was good; we caught a nice big Tuna, hanged it out to bleed and promptly lost it to something bigger!
The last 20 miles to Blanquilla island was a struggle against a strong current, so we were very relieved to drop anchor at 4 o’clock the afternoon.
We stayed 4 days, spend one glorious day at Americano Bay where Jaco speared a rainbow runner and got alikruk from the fishermen taking it off the rocks.

There was a lot of fishing boats and two local sailboats and from them we learned that Tortuga Island (our next destination) is closed for visitors.
So we changed plans and headed for Cumana where Phil and Yvonne on Chaser II were waiting for us.
How to fit these in the pot?

Wonderful sunset to start our cruising in Venezuelan waters.
