Carenero, August 2013

Tuna carpaccio breakfast on the sail from Tortuga to Carenero.
Mahi-Mahi  (Chaser's catch of the day) Shushi for supper.
We left Puerto la Cruz early morning for Tortuga, hoping to spend some time there.
It was not to be, before we even dropped anchor at Palanquinos the Coastguard came to tell us the Island is closed for cleaning-up and we have to leave the next morning!
The forecast for going to Carenero, our next stop, was not good, but the Coastguard was adamant: we have to go! The last 20 miles to Carenero was a slog against the wind with squalls, but we managed to make it in time for sundowners in front of the Carenero Marine los Piratas. We caught a small tuna and Phil got a mahi-mahi, enough for a great sushi meal! We stayed two nights, felt very welcome and safe and had a good meal at one of the restaurants.

Just L O V E  the Venezuelan Cuba Libres!
Later we met a French boat that was armed robbed a week before at this exact spot!
It seemed that the safer place to anchor is in front of the Port Captain building.

We left from Porto Frances at 2 am for west end of Los Roques with very little wind forecasted.
