That afternoon while taking a shower on the swim platform Hennie dropped the brand-new soap and when he jumped in after it dislocated his shoulder. The rest of the trip we called him “Hennie seerskouer Coetzee”(remember Gerrie Seerhandjies Coetzee?)
The sail to Juangriego was uneventful, surprisingly, for on the same route previously we lost two lures when big fish hooked and broke the line.
We upped anchor at 04h00, it was only 23 Nm but we did not want to be caught in the stronger midday winds.
The winds stayed light all the way and at 09h00 we were anchored at Porlamar.
As soon as the anchor was well set we took two trips with the small dingy to the dingy dock and got a taxi for 6 people (easily) to town.
We went to one of the big supermarkets to check the wine and brandy selection.
We saw Cato Negro, a good table wine from Chile
Hennie saw a Cointreau for Bfs 52, it is usually R300 so they say!
Well satisfied that we will do serious shopping the next day we went sightseeing to the centre of town.
The pedestrian only streets were quite festive and we had a cold beer under the big trees.

We bought lots of wine and brandy and got a new courtesy flag as the old one we got from Nardia and Schalk , made by Doris , was falling apart.
It was a beautiful evening and we had a good time with Hennie on guitar and vocals.

Juangriego is a small resort/fishing town that is a good summer anchorage and interesting for a cold beer, to stroll along the waterfront and to see the twin tower white church
.Many shops sell bathing costumes and Mattie was lured into one and bought a strange looking black number. I expect that “costume” will be used only in their bedroom, and then only for a short time!
