Catedral Primada |
It took less than an
hour to reach Santo Domingo
from Boca Chica. The bus dropped us on the edge of the Zona Colonial, the old
city.
S.D. is the oldest
European settlement in the Americas,
founded by Columbus and we saw the oldest Church
in the Americas,
La Catedral Primada and the oldest fort, Alcazar de Colon and many more. Between
all the old points of interest are lively souvenir shops.
We saw some of the
rest of Santo Domingo
and were impressed by the beautiful mix of old and modern architecture.
We loved the old city and also did some shopping. Jaco got a” guayabera’ a traditional shirt, usually white with two rows of pleats down the front and back, with many pockets.
