Rio Dulce /July 2012

The Rio Dulce from bridge

Now this is what I call a Pina Colada!

Back at the Dulce we met Chilean Rob from S/V Shenu. Last we saw each other was when we left Venezuela on our way to Cuba and they just entered Venezuela on their way to San Blas. We arrived the same day at Livingston, Guatemala….. Incredible coincidence. We joined him on a sight seeing trip down river and to hand in his sails for fixing. On the way back he checked out a plot for sale next to the river. (Deja vu from Brazil at Isla Grande where he did the same!)
Rob's plot.

Ricardo & Linda
We also met up with Ricardo and Linda of S/V Bailando. We all had a delicious breakfast at Tijax marina together before we all scatter around the globe for hurricane season. Hopefully we will meet each other again when we return to Guatemala from Namibia

Every evening, after a hard day’s work in unbearable heat (preparing Songerie for 3 month rest), we have a sundowner on our dock watching the Manatees rolling and diving in the water in front of us. (all land lubbers always ask us how do you keep yourselves busy … the above mentioned hard work involves cleaning all inside – cupboards, storage places, walls and roof - with chlorine for mold prevention, sanding and varnishing the wood toe rail, -hand rail, -cockpit, -companion way, fixing leakage problems etc.)

While cleaning, I noticed a small tree growing from the silicon at the front window. We shudder wondering in what state Songerie will be upon our return.
